הרבה מהאובססיות שלנו כלפי הרכב שלנו הן מטרד לא קטן. בין אם יש משהו שלא עובד, או שהרכב לא נוסע טוב, לרוב זה פשוט ניגמר בהוצאה כספית ענקית כדי לפתור ולתקן את הבעיה. אבל עבור דבין ודום, המטרד הכי גדול שלהם זה איזה רכב לקחת.
דבין ודום ניפגשו בשנת 2008, תוך כדי צ'יטוט בהודעת הפרטיות בפורום VWVortex, דבין היה בטוח שדום הוא גבר. אבל עם השיחות שלהם, הוא כבר הבין שהוא טעה. כאשר הגיע הקיץ השניים החליטו להיפגש, לראות את המכוניות אחד של השני ולדבר על ה-MK4 בכללי. וכמו בכל סיפור רומנטי אחר, הם התחילו לפתח רגשות אחד כלפי השני, וכמו בכל סיפור רומנטי שחובב רכב מפנטז עליו, מידת השיפורים של הרכבים שלהם מאד הושפעה אחד מהשני כמו האפקט של כדור שלג.
"אני הכרתי את דום רק חודש, כשהיא הזמינה אותי לראות איתה את ההתקדמות של הרכב שלה, ובדיוק כמו שחשבתי, מצאתי רכב מוחלק, נקי, מכוסה בצבע יסוד. הבנתי מאותו הרגע שאותה הבחורה אובססיבית לגבי ה-VW שלה בדיוק כמו שאני לשלי. מאותו הרגע, מה שניראה לי כמו זוגיות אידיאלית, הפך להיות בלתי נמנע"
בזמן שרוב האנשים מנסים להחביא את השיפורים שלהם, להחביא את ההוצאות הכספיות על חלקים, ומתקשים לחלק את הזמן בין מערכת יחסים, לתחביב, דבין ודון ששותפים לתחביב, מה שמאפשר להם להיות תומכים, ומפרגנים, וכמובן מתלהבים! במשך שלוש שנים, ושלוש מפגשי H20s, אינסוף בניות, צביעות ותשוקה ארוכה למכוניות שלהם, הזוג הצליח לייצר שתי MK4 מדהימות.
"כשפגשתי את דבין, לא יכולתי להתעלם מהכימיה בניינו, ניצוצות עפו... מגה ניצוצות". להרבה גולשי וורטקס, הבחירה בין ביצועים ליופי מאד חשובה, זה מה שמשפיע על המראה של הרכב. אבל דום ודבין נהנים משני העולמות.
מצד אחד, לדבין יש רכב מאד בסיסי, הוא הופשט, ונוקה, וכל דבר מיותר הורד כדי לחסוך במשקל, פנים רכב כולל בעיקר 2 מושבי ספרקו, ידית הילוכים, ולוח שעונים. זה פשוט מדהים עד כמה שהרכב ניראה נקי יחסית לרכב שלא כולל כלום. מבחוץ כמה שיפורים בסיסיים שנותנים מראה מקורי. גם המנוע עבר שידרוגים קלים מטורבו K03 ועד K04 ועד GT3076R, שיושב לו בתא מנוע שנוקה מכל דבר מיותר, אז כמו שאתם יכולים לראות, שמראה בהחלט יכול לבלבל, כי הג'טה הזאת יודעת לנשוך.
מצידו האחד של הספקטרום, יש לנו מפלצת, אך מצידו השני, יש לנו את היפיפייה. הרכב של דום ממש לא נועד למירוצים, הוא פשוט נועד להיות יפה ונמוך, הוא נועל סט של Trecer Tech 1. הגוף כולו הוחלק, הטמבונים הוחלפו לסדרת R-Line, תא המנוע נוקה מכל דבר מיותר ופנים הרכב קיבל את כל הטוב שיש ל-OEM להציע, הרכב הוא מאד פשוט, נקי וקלאסי בצורה מדהימה.
שני הרכבים הם חלק מהמיטב ממה שיש לקהילת ה-MK4 להציע. בקהילה שמלאה בהרבה שיפורים זולים, בולמים זולים, והרבה דברים שפשוט נקנים מבלי מחשבה תחילה, מאד מרענן למצוא שני רכבים כאלה. דום ודבין השקיעו המון זמן ברכבים שלהם, והתוצאה מדברת בעד עצמה. אנחנו מצפים לראות אותם עוד בעתיד, עם עוד הרבה הפתעות.
